Given equations are
$x - 2 y = - 2$ .....(1)
and $x - y = 1$ ....(2)
Therefore, $x = y + 1$ ....(3)
Substitute this value in equation (3), we get
$y + 1 - 2 y = - 2$
$\Rightarrow y = 3$
Put this value in equation (3),
$x = 3 + 1 = 4$
Therefore, the solution is $x = 4, y = 3$ .
