Question

Solve the following systems of equations graphically:
3x+y+1=0
2x3y+8=0

Open in App
Solution

Given: equations of two lines: 3x+y+1=0 and 2x3y+8=0
(1) Intercept of line 3x+y+1=0
at x=0,y=1
at y=0,x=13
Now plot the first line on the graph using intercepts.

(2) Intercepts of the line 2x3y+8=0
at x=0,y=83
at y=0,x=4
Now plot the second line on the graph using intercepts.

We can see that these two lines intersect a point x=1,y=2
