Question

State function of electric field and magnetic field in cyclotron?

Open in App
Solution

Okk read. oky we all know that a cyclotron is consist of 2 D's and between the two their is a very small gape of separation where the use particle is put from it. the D's are made up of non conducting material which when the electric field is applied to the setup it dont affect to both the D's. now question arise that why we setup something like this ,listen here their is use of two field one is magnetic which only act on a moving particle otherwise it cant exist and force on it to turn it ,and another is the electric field due to influence of which a charge particle can able to move or accelerate only at one direction +ve to -ve (straight),this type of set up is sets because inbetweenthe gap of both D's the charge particle is 1st influenced to get accelearatedue to electric field at the gape and enter to the suitable polarity (-ve) D and after it get entered into one of the D now it no more influence by the electric field where there inside the D existing the magnetic field due to which it get turned up and able to complete a curve or semi circular area now its get out from the D and entered to the gap with inc. V and as the polarity get change once more it enter to another D and this process will runn till th end of it. affect of electric field:REMEMBER it only act on a charged particle and applied force to move it alonge the direction same with it. this is applied to let the particle be entered. now magnetic field:REMEMBER it only can influenced to a moving charged particle. due to influence of it the particle goes turn up and this applied inside the D. hop u got it...!
