Mixture

  • A mixture is formed when atoms or molecules of the same or different particles combine with each other physically.
  • For example - Air is a mixture of gases like Carbon dioxide, Nitrogen, Oxygen, etc; Dust, and Water vapours.

Some characteristics of mixtures are as follows -

  1. A mixture's ingredients are present in any ratio.
  2. Physical change has resulted in the mixture. Chemical bonds do not bind the ingredients of a mixture together.
  3. A mixture's attributes are the average of its members' properties.
  4. While the majority of the mixtures are heterogeneous, a few are homogeneous.
  5. Using appropriate physical techniques, constituents of a mixture can be separated.
