Accelerated eutrophication is the ageing of a water body due to nutrient enrichment of its water. It can be natural or artificial.
Causes of accelerated eutrophication:
Runoff of fertilizers from nearby field to the water body causes algal bloom which leads to eutrophication.
Sewage and industrial effluents increase the temperature and BOD of the water body, thereby causing increased biological activity, leading to algal blooms.
