Composition of Aqua regia :

Aqua regia is a highly corrosive mixture of concentrated nitric acid and concentrated hydrochloric acid, optimally in a volume ratio of 1:3.

It is a fuming yellow-red solution.

Oxidizing agent : Nitric acid acts as oxidizing age. Nitric acid get reduced and oxidize other molecules. Hence it acts as an oxidizing agent.
