(ii) Preparation of ethyne from ethylene dibromide
• The condition required for this reaction is that the solution should be boiled. with Alcoholic KOH
• The Chemical equation of this reaction is given below-
$C_{2} H_{5} B r \overset{a l c . K O H}{\to} C H_{2} = C H_{2} + H B r$
• Acetylene ( $C_{2} H_{2}$ ) is prepared by treating ethylene dibromide with an alc. Potassium hydroxide solution.
