Solution

Conditions required for conversion of Sulphur dioxide to Sulphur trioxide.

  1. There must be a catalyst which is Vanadium pentoxide (V2O5)
  2. The temperature must be between the range of 450-500°C
  3. Pressure must be about 1-2 atmosphere.
  4. Balanced chemical equation- 2SO2(g)(Sulphurdioxide)+O2(g)(Oxygen)450-500°CV2O5(Vanadiumpentoxide)2SO3(g)(Sulphurtrioxide)+45Kcals

Hence, the two conditions are:-

(i) Catalyst Vanadium pentoxide (V2O5) must be present.

(ii) Temperature should be between 450-500°C.

2SO2(g)(Sulphurdioxide)+O2(g)(Oxygen)450-500°CV2O5(Vanadiumpentoxide)2SO3(g)(Sulphurtrioxide)+45Kcals
