(a) Cerebellum

Cerebellum:

  1. It is an important part of the hindbrain.
  2. It is referred to as the second-largest part of the brain though being a very small structure as it contains a maximum number of neurons when compared to the entire brain.
  3. It constitutes only 10% of the brain volume.

Function:

  1. It maintains body posture and coordination.
  2. It is involved in muscle toning and motor movements.
  3. It maintains the equilibrium of the body.

Hence, the function of the cerebellum is to maintain body posture, muscle toning, coordination, and equilibrium of the body.
