Salivary gland:

1. The digestive juice secreted by the salivary glands is saliva.
2. Saliva is viscous, colourless liquid that contains an enzyme called salivary amylase or ptyalin for the digestion of starch.
3. There are three pairs of salivary glands in the buccal cavity of man- parotid, submaxillary and sublingual glands.
