  1. TSH stands for thyroid-stimulating hormone.
  2. It is also called thyrotropin.
  3. It is secreted by the pituitary gland.
  4. The thyroid is a small butterfly-shaped gland located at the front of the neck just below Adam's apple (larynx).

Functions of TSH:

  1. It regulates the production of hormones from the thyroid gland.
  2. It regulates the metabolism of the body.
  3. It controls the production of thyroxine, triiodothyronine, and tetraiodothyronine.
  4. It helps in maintaining body temperature.
  5. It provides strength to muscles.
  6. It influences our mood.
