• Legislative powers/functions - Making laws on the items in the state and concurrent list.
• Financial powers/functions – Control the finances of the state.
  • Money bills can only be introduced in the Legislative Assembly.
  • New tax can not be levied without the sanction of the Legislative Assembly.
• Executive powers/functions– The Council of Ministers is responsible to the Legislative Assembly.
  • The Legislative Assembly can pass a ‘No confidence motion’ against the executive, resulting in its dissolution.
