Solution

Statement: 1 Mark
Equation: 1 Mark

1. The universal law of gravitation states that every object in the universe attracts every other object with a force which is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between their centers.

2. For two objects of masses m1 and m2 and if the distance between them is r, the force (F) of attraction acting between them is given by the universal law of gravitation as:

F=Gm1m2r2,
where 'G' is the universal gravitation constant andG=6.67×1011 Nm2kg2
