State whether the “Or” used in the following statements is “exclusive “or” inclusive. Give reasons for your answer. (i) Sun rises or Moon sets. (ii) To apply for a driving licence, you should have a ration card or a passport. (iii) All integers are positive or negative.

(i) The given statement is: Sun rises or moon sets.

In this statement both the things that are given are not possible because the rise of sun and set of moon does not occur together. Thus in this statement the word “or” is exclusive.

(ii) The given statement is: To apply for a driving license, you should have a ration card or a passport.

In this statement, ration card and passport, both are applicable to apply for a driving license, thus the word “or” is inclusive.

(iii) The given statement is: All integers are positive or negative.

In this statement, all integers are not positive nor all integers are negative, thus the word “or” is exclusive.
