Isotopes are atoms with same atomic number and different mass number. Each isotope exist in different % abundance and they contribute for the atomic mass of the carbon.
Average atomic mass = x1M1+x2M2+x3M3x1+x2+x3x1, x2,x3 are the % abundanceM1,M2,M3 are the atomic mass
The average atomic mass of carbon is found as 12.011 amu.
