In the 4th century BC, Hippocrates believed the brain to be the seat of intelligence.
During the 4th century BC Aristotle thought that, the brain was a cooling mechanism for the blood.
The English physician Thomas Willis published his Anatomy of the Brain (1664) and the Danish anatomist Nicolaus Steno published his Lecture on the Anatomy of the Brain (1669).
