Seeds are generally formed by the maturation of ovule after fertilization in flowering plants. In some plants fruit is formed from a single flower and bears a single ovule. This type of fruit will bear single seed like mango, cherry, plum, peach etc. Some fruits are formed from single flower with multiple ovules. This gives rise to several seeds like tomato, oranges, watermelon, cucumber, passion fruit, kiwi etc. Fruits like pea, peanut, beans etc. are formed by aggregation of numerous flowers with numerous ovules. They produce several seeds.
