Solution

Fossils are the dead remains or impressions of organisms which lived in the past. They provide us direct evidence of organic evolution.
1. Fossil records of various organisms arranged according to the geological timetable reflect the evolutionary process in nature.
2. Some fossils provide us links between existing groups of plants and animals. For example, fossil of Archaecpteryx look like that of a bird but they have some features like reptiles. This shows the evolutionary relationship between birds and reptiles.
