(1) In the given diagram,

A- Anode
B- Cathode

  • In electrolytic cell, cathode is negatively charged electrode connected to the negative terminal of the battery and anode is positively charged electrode connected to the positive terminal of the battery.

(2)

  • In electrolytic cell, the electrode at which oxidation takes place is called anode.
  • Thus,Electrode (A) is the oxidising electrode.
