The most convincing evidence of evolution of descent from a common ancestor is coming from the field of biochemistry. Most of the living organisms exhibit similarities in their chemical structure. Similar or identical enzymes are found in a large number of animal groups. These are called biochemical evidences. For example: Trypsin, a protein splitting enzyme, is found in animals from protozoa to mammals. Similarly, amylase (a carbohydrate digesting enzyme) is present from sponges to man.

The thyroid hormone is found in all vertebrates and is found to be identical and interchangeable. Cattle thyroid can be used in the treatment of thyroid deficiencies and even human thyroid can induce metamorphosis in frog tadpoles.
