Cotyledons are called seed leaves Because they form within the seeds, cotyledons are known also as seed leaves. Flowering plants, called angiosperms, have embryos within their seeds that form one or two cotyledons, also often referred to as "seed leaves". Those with one cotyledon are known as monocotyledons or monocots.
Primitive organisms evolved much early whereas advanced organisms have evolved relatively recently. The complexity in design of simpler forms has increased over evolutionary time due to which they ultimately become modern complex form.
The tissues can be divided into three groups according to their embryonic origin (germ layers) in triploblasticmetazoans: ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm. In insects, ectodermal derivatives include all larval imaginal discs (wings, legs, and antenna).
