Sodium thiosulphate (Na2S2O3) is the product that is formed when sulphur reacts with concentrated alkali. Sodium thiosulphate forms a complex with silver halide on photographic paper. Therefore, it is used as a fixer in photography. It is formed by the following reaction:
6NaOH+4SNa2S2O3+2Na2S+3H2O
