Solution

Dear Student,

Let us assume that the present age of mother be X years and that of daughter will be (60 - X) years.

After 15 years,
Mother's age is X + 15 years
Daughter's age = (60-X) + 15 years

So the equation we get is:

(X + 15) = 2((60 - X) + 15)

X + 15 = 2(75-X)
X + 15 = 150-2X
3X = 135
X = 45 years

Since mother's age is 45 years, then his daughter's age will be (60 - 45) = 15 years
