Question

sun is about 325 times heavier and about 100 times bigger in size than the earth . the ratio of their mean densities will be ??

Open in App
Solution

Given weight of sun = 325 times weight of earth
If M is the mass of the Sun and m is the mass of the Earth than.
Then for given information Mg = 325 mg (sun is 325 times heavier than Earth)
or M/m = 325
Given sun is 100 times bigger than the earth.
Therefore; Volume of sun = 100 times volume of the earth
Suppose V is the volume of the sun and v is the volume of the earth
V = 100 v
Since Density = Mass/volume
Density of sun D = M/V
Density of Earth = d = m/v
D/d = Mv/ Vm = 325 m v/100m V
D/d = 13/4

So, ratio of mean density of sun and earth is 13/4
