Sweets were distributed among 5 children namely A, B , C , D and E.
A got 13 Sweets and after that each child got 2 more than the previous child.
What is the average number of sweets each child got?
17
A got 13 sweets
B got 13 + 2 = 15
C got 15 + 2 = 17
D got 17 + 2 = 19
E got 19 + 2 = 21
∴ Average number of sweets each got = 13+15+17+19+215 = 855 = 17
Alternate method :
Since, the Number of sweets increases by same number, the Mid value i.e. The value of C in this case will be the mean
(Because the number of observations is odd)
