sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system are antagonistic in their actions. explain it with effects of systems on blood vessels​

The autonomic nervous system can be classified into two divisions -
a) Sympathetic
b) Parasympathetic
These two have opposing effects on the organs they act on.

While the sympathetic division increases the blood pressure and speeds up the rate of heart. It also shuts down the gut. On the other hand Parasympathetic division decreases the blood pressure and slows down the heart rate. It opens up and activates the gut for digestion.
