Solution

<!--td {border: 1px solid #ccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}--> Sexual reproduction involves the exchange of genes.
Body produces germ cells which contain only one set of genes.
This is because gametes are formed by meiosis where the genetic material is halved.
That is each gamete contains only half the number of chromosomes as the parent.(n number of chromosomes)(haploid)
During fertilisation the gametes of each parent combines to form zygote.
When the sperm from the male parent and the ovum from the female parent fuse to produce an offspring, the genetic material present in the sperm and the ova mix up.
Given that the genetic material of the sperm and ovum mix up after their fusion, this produces a random combination of parental characteristics in the offspring.
Thus the zygote will have a random combination of parental characteristics in the offspring.
