In May 1819, Misar Diwan Chand successfully captured Rajauri, Punchh, and Pir Panchal, from Bhimbar. His army moved towards Kashmir from Pir Panchal. Jabar Khan resisted the Sikhs attack in Samadhan, but it was futile. The Sikh army managed to occupy the forts of Shri Nagar, Shergarh, and Azimgarh. Kashmir was annexed, and Diwan Moti Ram was appointed as the Subedar of Kashmir.
