Ted was having dinner with his younger cousin. Ted’s cousin could have only one roti whereas Ted’s capacity was 4 rotis. Assume that the rotis are perfect circles with radius 4 cm. To what radius should the rotis be reduced so that Ted’s cousin eats as many rotis as Ted?
2 cm
One roti’s area = π(4)2=16π cm2
Cousin’s capacity is 1 roti = area of 1 roti = 16π cm2
Area of one roti has to be divided in 4 small rotis i.e. 16π4=4π cm2
So the new radius, r is
π r2=4π
r = 2 cm
