Solution
Clark's method is used to remove hardness from water on a large scale. A calculated amount of lime water (Ca(OH)2) is added to tanks containing hard water. The bicarbonates of calcium and magnesium present in water are converted into soluble carbonates which settle down at the bottom and the soft water is drained off.
