Ten years ago, amy age was half of sheelaage.If the ratio of their present ages is 3:4,what will be the sum of their present ages?

Answer :

Let ratio coefficient = x

And given : the ratio of Amy and Sheela present ages is 3 : 4 , So

Present age of Amy = 3x
And
Present age of Sheela = 4x

And also given : Ten years ago, Amy age was half of Sheela age , So we get

3x - 10 = 4x - 1023x - 10 = 4x2 - 1023x - 10 = 2x - 5x = 5
So,
Present age of Amy = 3( 5 ) = 15
And
Present age of Sheela = 4 ( 5 ) = 20 ( Ans )
