Question

# The above histogram shows the number of literate females in the age group of 10 to 40 years in town.(a) Write the classes assuming all the classes are of equal width.(b) What is class's width?(c) In which age group are literate females the least?(d) In which age group is the number of literate females the highest?

Solution

## (a) As per the given information, age group is $$10-40$$ years. We can see that there are $$6$$ columns in the histograms. So, it can be divided in $$6$$ classes of equal class intervals with class size $$=\cfrac{40-10}{6}=5$$, starting from $$10$$Hence, the classes are $$10-15, \ 15-20, \ 20-25, \ 25-30,\ 30-35,\ 35-40$$(b) We know that, Class width = upper limit - Lower limit = $$15 -10$$$$\therefore\$$ Class width = $$5$$(c) As per the given histogram, class $$10 -15$$ consist of the least number of literate females.(d)Looking at the histogram, we can say that class $$15-20$$ consists of the highest number of literate females.Mathematics
