The aluminium strips in an electroscope is replaced by plastic strips and a charged body is brought in contact with the metal clip. What will happen?

If aluminium strips is replaced by plastic strips, the incoming charge from the charged body passes into the metal rod and remains there as plastic strips being an insulator restricts free flow of charges, because of which no effects of charge will be visible on the plastic strips.
