Solution

Let the base of the right-angled triangle be x cm.According to the question:Altitude = (x + 7) cm Area of the triangle = 12 × x × (x + 7) cm2Now, 12 × x × (x + 7) = 165x2 + 7x 330 = 0x2 + (22 15)x 330 = 0x2 + 22x 15x 330 = 0x(x + 22) 15(x + 22) = 0 (x + 22)(x 15) = 0 x = 22, x = 15The base of the triangle can never be negative.Therefore, the base of the right-angled triangle is 15 cm. Altitude = (15 + 7) = 22 cm
