Question

The area of a sector of a circle of 6 cm radius is 15π sq.cm. Find the measure of the arc and length of the arc corresponding to the sector.

Open in App
Solution

Radius of the sector, r = 6 cm

Let the measure of the arc be θ and the length of the arc corresponding to the sector be l cm.

Area of the sector = 15π cm2 (Given)

12lr=15π12×l×6=15πl=15π3=5π cm
Length of the arc = 5π cm

θ360°×2πr=5πθ=5×360°2rθ=5×360°2×6θ=150°
Thus, the measure of the arc and length of the arc corresponding to the sector are 150º and 5π cm, respectively.
