Question

The base and height of a triangle are in the ratio 3:4 and its area is 96 sq cm . Find its base and height .

Solution-: Let the base be 3x and the height be 4x

Area = 96 sq cm
Area of triangle = 1/2 *Base* Height
96 = 1/2*(3x)(4x)
96 = 1/2(12x^2)
96 = 6x^2
So x^2 = 96/6 =16
x^2 = 16
x= 4

So base = 3x4= 12 cms
Height = 4x =4*4 = 16cms

So base = 12 cms
Height = 16 cms Answer
