The blood enters the glomerulus under high pressure from the afferent arteriole and leaves through efferent arteriole. Due to the high pressure in the glomerulus the blood gets filtered.The rate at which blood is filtered through all of the glomeruli, and thus the measure of the overall renal function, is the glomerular filtration rate.
