Given that the ratio of the capacities of three water tanks is 4 : 5 : 9

Let the capacities be 4x, 5x and 9x respectively
Capacity of the smallest tank = 2160 litres

According to the statement,
4x = 2160
x = 540

So, capacity of biggest tank
= 9x
= 4860 litres
