Water-gas is a mixture of Carbon monoxide and hydrogen gas. It is also known as synthesis gas.

It is widely used to produce methanol by the below-mentioned reaction:

CO2+H2CH3OH
This reaction requires ZnO and Cr2O3 as catalyst which produces methanol with high selectivity (99.8%).
