Solution

The correct option is A 52.2 sq m
The area of the given playground can be split as:

The areas of the three parts can be further rearranged as:

Part 2 is a big rectangle and the triangular parts 1 and 3 also combine to form a smaller rectangle.

We know,
Area of a rectangle
= Length × Breadth

The area of the big rectangle (Part 2) can be calculated as:

Area = Length × Breadth
= 8.7 m × 5.3 m
= 46.11 sq m

So, the area of Part 2 is 46.11 sq m.

Next, we calculate the area of the smaller rectangle formed by Part 1 and Part 3.

Calculating the area of the smaller rectangle, we get:

Area = Length × Breadth
= 8.7 m × 0.7 m
= 6.09 sq m

So, the area of the smaller rectangle is 6.09 sq m.

Now, the total area of the park can be calculated as:

∴Area of the park
= 46.11 sq m + 6.09 sq m
= 52.2 sq m

Hence, the total area of the park is 52.2 sq m.
