Solution

Dear student,

The clinical thermometer has a slight bend in its capillary tube because when mercury expands, it is pushed through the slight bend, but the thermometer is taken out of the patient's mouth then mercury does not go back to the bulb and it will be easy for the doctor to record the reading and temperature of the patient's body.
