Why can't a clinical thermometer be used in a laboratory

why cannot use a clinical thermometer in laboratory because:-

the range of clinial thermometer is 35 to 42 degree celsius.In the lab we need to measure the temp of some things which have such high temp that exceeds 42 degree celcius while some things are so cold that their temp may be less than 35 degree celciusbut the range in clinical thermometer is 35 to 42 degree celcius.that is why if we will use it in lab, it will break.
