2x + 2y = 48 ...... (2)
Multiplying by 2 in Equation (2),
4x + 4y = 96 ....... (3)
Subtracting Equation (3) and (1),
$8x+4y=176$
$4x+4y=96$

$4x=80$
$x=20$
