Solution

Let the cost of a pen = Rs. x
Let the cost of a note book = Rs. y
From given data we have
x+y=60 ........ (1)
x=y10 ........ (2)
Substituting x in (1) we get, y10+y=60
y+y=60+102y=70
y=702=35
Substituting y = 35 in (2) we get, x = 35 - 10 = 25
The cost of a pen is Rs. 25.
The cost of a note book is Rs. 35.
