The cutting edges of tools like knives, blades etc are provided with sharp edges. Explain why ?

The pressure acting on a surface area $A$ by a force $F$ is given by
$P=\frac{F}{A}$

Hence pressure acting on a small surface area is large as compared to that on a large surface area. Hence cutting of objects becomes easier with sharp edges(small surface area).
