Molarity = molesvolume(inmL)×1000

40% by mass of HCl means 100g solution contains 40g HCl.

Number of moles of HCl=weightmolecular mass of HCl=4036.5=1.0958 moles

Density=massvolume=1.2 g/mL

Volume=1001.2=83.33 mL

Therefore, Molarity = 1.095883.33×1000 = 13.15 M
