The diagonal of a rectangle is 34 cm. If its breadth is 16 cm; find the value of its area in cm2

Open in App
Solution

Let the length of the rectangle =l cm
The diagonal of a rectangle divides it into two equal right angled triangles. Hence, diagonal forms the hypotenuse of a right angled triangle, with the other two sides being the length and breadth of the rectangle.
Hence, diagonal =l2+162=34cm

=>l2+256=1156

=>l=1156256=900=30cm

Area of the rectangle =l×b=30×16=480cm2
