The diagonal of a rectangle divides it into two equal right angled triangles. Hence, diagonal forms the hypotenuse of a right angled triangle, with the other two sides being the length and breadth of the rectangle.
Hence, diagonal $=\sqrt{l^2+{16}^2}=34cm$

$=>l^2+256=1156$

$=>l=\sqrt{1156-256}=\sqrt{900}=30cm$

Area of the rectangle $=l\times b=30\times 16=480{cm}^2$
