Question

The diameter of a copper wire is 2 mm, a steady current of 6.25 A is generated by 8.5×1028/m2 electron flowing through it. Calculate the drift velocity of conduction electrons.

Open in App
Solution

I=nAve

n=8.5×1028/m2
A=πr2=π×106m2
e=1.6×1019C

Hence, v=InAe=6.258.5×1028×π×106×1.6×1019

v=0.146×103m/s

v=1.46×104m/s
