Question

the diameters of the front and rear Wheels of a tractor are 80 cm and 2m respectively . find the number of revolutions that a rear wheel makes to cover the distance with the front wheel covers in 800 revolution

Open in App
Solution

Dear student

Given diameter of front wheel = 80 cm
radius of front wheel = 40 cm
circumference of circle (front wheel) = 2πr
= 2 x (22/7) x 40 = 1760/7 cm
Distance covered by the front wheel in 800 revolutions = 800 x (1760/7) = 1408000/7 cm
Given diameter of rear wheel = 2 m = 200 cm
radius of rear wheel = 100 cm
circumference of circle (rear wheel) = 2πr
= 2 x (22/7) x 100 = 4400/7 cm
But distance covered by the rear wheel = 1408000/7 cm number of revolutions made by rear wheel = (1408000/7) x (7/4400) = 320
