The dimensions of a public park are as shown. There are two paths in the park one along the perimeter and one along the interior square. A man goes for a walk in the morning. He walks three complete rounds along the outer perimeter and two complete rounds along the square perimeter. What is the total distance he covers during his morning walk?
1458 m
From the above figure,
Perimeter of the outer path
= 70 + 32 + 75 + 20 + 14 + 75 = 286 m
Perimeter of the square
= 4 x 75 = 300 m
∴ Total distance the walks
= 3(286) + 2(300) = 858 + 600 = 1458 m
